Annette Funicello was 13 years old when she was discovered by studio head Walt Disney dancing in an amateur production called Swan Lake in Fullerton California. Funicello at the expense of the others Mickey Mouse Club stars, became a part of the cast once the initial season ended and didn't have to audition.
